Terms of Service

Last updated October 30, 2026

These terms apply to your use of the Secretary app (desktop and web). By using Secretary you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.

What Secretary is

Secretary is a personal assistant tool that reads the accounts you connect and helps you plan your day. It runs on your own computer or on a server you choose. Its handling of your data is described in the Privacy Policy.

Your accounts and third-party services

AI output

Briefings, plans, suggested tasks, draft replies and reviews are generated automatically and can be incomplete or wrong. Secretary labels what is a fact from your data, what is an inference and what is a suggestion, but you should check anything important before relying on it. Secretary is not a substitute for professional legal, medical, financial or other advice.

Actions you approve

Secretary never sends email, creates calendar events or changes data in another service without your approval. When you approve an action, you are responsible for it as if you had done it yourself, so review drafts and events before approving.

Costs

Secretary itself has no fee. If you use OpenAI or Anthropic, those providers bill you directly for API usage. Spending limits and cost figures in Secretary are estimates based on published prices; your provider’s bill is authoritative. Local AI through Ollama has no usage charges.

Acceptable use

Don’t use Secretary to break the law, to access accounts or data you are not allowed to access, to send spam, or to interfere with the services it connects to.

No warranty

Secretary is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. It may contain bugs, and connected services may change or stop working with it at any time. Keep your own records of anything important.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the authors and publishers of Secretary are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Stopping use

You can stop using Secretary at any time: delete your account in Settings → Privacy & data, disconnect your accounts, and uninstall the app. If you use a server run by someone else, its operator may suspend access that violates these terms.

Changes

These terms may be updated. The current version is always published at this address with its “last updated” date. Continuing to use Secretary after a change means you accept the updated terms.
